Jo Casto Design

Born in the Midwest, and raised in Phoenix, I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fine Arts at Arizona State University.  In 1974 my family moved to Malaysia and Singapore, enjoying seven amazing years of living overseas and traveling the world.  Subsequently I resided in the Houston, Texas area for 24 years.  During these times my family travelled to Europe, the Far East, the South Pacific and the Caribbean.  Beginning in 2005, I resided in Copenhagen, Denmark for two years, enjoying the art, architecture, and ambiance of favorite destinations in Europe.  Since 2007, my family has settled permanently in Colorado where I maintain my studio.  World travel and living abroad has enriched my life and influenced my art work greatly.

Past artistic endeavors have included fashion illustration, window decoration, needlework design, and decorative painting.   However, for the last sixteen years, painting has been my passion.  Nature’s beauty is the inspiration for everything I paint.  My painting style can best be described as the juxtaposition of the colors of impressionism, artful whimsy, splashes of sunshine, a touch of trompe-l’oeil, and old masters realism.
